How To Check and Replace The Belt Switch In A Whirlpool 27 Inch Electric Or Gas Dryer

Open the door on the dryer and try to turn the drum either clockwise or counterclockwise. If you could turn the drum easily without much resistance, most likely you have a broken or derailed belt.
Disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet
Open the toe panel and look to see if the belt is broken or just derailed from the motor & idler pulleys lg dryer repair pasadena.
If the belt is broken you will need to replace it and if it has derailed from the motor & idler pulleys and the belt looks in good shape, just reinstall it
How to dismantle the dryer

Open the controls panel
Unscrew the 3 top panel holding screws and remove the top panel
Remove the toe panel
Disconnect the door switch from the wire harness
Unscrew the holding screws from the front panel and remove the front panel
Remove the drum from the dryer
Now you could check the belt switch and the switch actuator
How to check & replace the belt switch

Disconnect the wires from the belt switch
Set your multimeter on the lowest scale to read ohms
Make sure that the idler pulley’s arm is not pushing on the belt switch actuator
Take a reading between the 2 terminals on the switch
The reading should be close to 0 ohms in order for the electricity to be able to flow to the motor
If the reading is infinity, the belt switch is bad and it must be replaced
How to replace the switch

Unscrew the 2 holding screws and remove the switch with the actuator
Install the actuator on the new switch
Set the new switch in place and screw in the holding screws
How to put the dryer back together

Set the drum in place making sure that the drum is riding on top of the rear drum support rollers
Place the belt around the drum. Make sure that the ridges on the belt are facing the drum
Get on the floor and stick your hands under the drum. Grab the belt and make loop and place it around the idler pulley
Push the idler pulley to your left and place the belt on the motor pulley
Install the front panel and secure it with the holding screws
Connect the door switch to the wire harness
Install the top panel and secure it with the holding screws
Close the controls panel.
